The neurosciences are alive with discovery and a great many people are deeply interested in the topics neuroscientists explore. Access to all this good stuff is limited, however, because the professional literature is difficult, to say the least, mainly due to the special vocabulary and special tools used by researchers, but also because of the complexity of the brain itself; its development, chemistry, molecular signaling, cognitive functions and the changes that occur throughout our lives. My goal is to highlight some of the very newest research as it appears and present it in a fashion accessible to everyone; providing background and interpretation along the way. I am a neuroscientist, Professor at Stanford University, and I am using this space to share my enthusiasm and sense of awe when confronting the brain.
